Harpoon a Fish FAQ
Dive depth is weight-gated, and a stolen fish belongs to whoever lands it, not whoever hooked it first. Six players share a server and everything you own persists between sessions, including the aquarium income you were not there to collect.
The questions that come up most about Harpoon a Fish, answered directly. If your question is about a mechanic rather than a number, the linked page has the full detail.

Why can I not dive deeper?
Depth is gated by weight, not by gear or level alone. The game's own line is get fat and sink deeper, and the way you get fat is by eating at the Mukbang table on the island. If every dive stops at the same depth, buy food and raise the table's level before you buy another harpoon. Full breakdown on depth layers.
Can another player steal the fish I hooked?
Yes, and it is a designed mechanic. The official description says it outright: harpoon another player's fish, only one can catch the trophy. Whoever completes the catch keeps it. Getting a fish on your line is half the job; landing it is the other half. Timing notes are on the stealing page.
Who gets the trophy in a contested catch?
The player who finishes the catch - not the one who hooked it first. There is no split, no compensation and no timer that protects your line, so the counter-play is positional: fire from above or behind the other diver, and avoid fishing popular shallow water in busy servers.
How do I get Ruby Keys?
Three ways, all free: the live code MONSTER (3 Ruby Keys and 3,000 XP), the game's reward claims in the HUD, and playtime rewards. There is no Robux purchase for them. See Ruby Keys.
Why can I not open a crate?
Crates are opened with keys, and the crate screen shows separate counters for the key types you are holding. If a counter reads zero, you cannot open that crate yet - keys come from the same reward tracks as everything else, so claim your rewards first.
How many players share a server?
Six. It is small on purpose: the steal mechanic only works when you recognise the other divers. If a server feels crowded at your favourite depth, switch servers; your pets, cash and index all come with you.
Does anything happen while I am offline?
Your aquarium keeps producing, but slower - the game says fish grow 20% faster while online. Nothing is lost or rotted, so logging out is always safe; it is just less efficient than leaving the session running while you do something else.
Do I need Robux to progress?
No. Five passes are on sale and two of them - 2x Money and 2x Fat - are genuinely useful, but every system, band and badge is reachable without them. The passes page explains exactly what each one changes, and what none of them change.
Is there a way to see what I have not caught yet?
Yes. The island's index board tracks your species entries, and the crafting recipes list the specific fish each bait still needs - so the recipe panel doubles as a to-do list for the fish you have never met. Details on the fish index.
Where do I enter codes?
In the Settings window, opened from the side menu on the island. The code box is inside it. The codes page has the current list and the exact steps.
Something here is wrong - how do I tell you?
Use the contact page. Corrections with a screenshot get fixed fastest, and the site's own rule is that anything which cannot be checked against the game or the developer's own pages does not go on the page in the first place.
